Lucifis has been ordering attacks upon the Xanersis Pack over and over again, and many wolves, on both side have died. A war between the two hasn't been declared by either side yet, but it is imminent and every one knows it. All the wolves are fearful, for Lucifis is getting more agressive each day. Can they figure out what is driving Lucifis's agression? Or will war rage upon the land...?

A cool mist clung to the ground, making the solid earth almost invisible in the dark of night. Stars were scattered across the forlorn, desolate sky...like tiny angels sparkling in heaven, watching you, carring for you, walking with you throughout your life...your own guardian angels. That was what Naomi had always thought the stars to be. Angels. Naomi was a pup again, tumbling foolishly in the dead of night with her brother Takeshi, the oldest. Naomi tugged at his ears, and pulled at his neck. She pinned him to the ground, forgetting about all the rules of the pack...and the one exceptional rule for young cubs: Never go out in the dark alone. Naomi was just too curious and fearless to obey that law. And so there she was, out frolicking in the Glade. Oh, how she loved it there. The tall grass made it feel as if nobody in the world could touch her. She was invincible, protected by an invisible shield. Naomi tumbled too far and found herself beyond the Xandersis boarder line. Alarmed and confused, she was about to run back to her den when she heard familiar voices...anxious, blood-thirsty voices............

"You know what you did...you know the law! How dare you disobey us!" came the snarling voice of a male Xandersis to whom Naomi could not identify.
"Please, we did not know. It was not intentional...please, my lord, spare us our lives. At least let me see my babies...let me see them! I only wish their safty. Promise me -" came another voice. Her mother's voice...calm and collected...sweet and gentle, yet anxious and concerned. Her sentance was interrupted by the other menacing growl..
"You know we can't have that, Akira....you know the law" Snapped the male.
"Then...then take my life...and spare my cubs...please" Akira pleaded, her voice shaky.
"So be it...."
Naomi was hiding near a clump of bushes, her eyes watching the shadows of the two wolves. Her brother, Takeshi, was oblivious to the fact that they were only a couple of feet close to their actual mother. The she-pup was about to emerge from the bushes and greet the two, out of ignorance, when the horrifying yelp of a she-wolf pierced the air...along with the snarls of the brute Xandersis. Naomi watched the terrifying shadow of her mother collapse in a heap on the blood stained grass. "MOTHER!"

Naomi suddenly awoke, her breathing heavy and her chest heaving, gasping for air. She could hear an irritable ringing in her ears. She looked around... it was dark. Her fellow packmates lay asleep in the thick peaceful glade. The only sound that could be heard were the soft chirps of crickets and the sound of the wind gently blowing through the trees. Just a dream...that was all it was. Or was it? Naomi shook her head as if to shake all the dark and evil from her memories. She stood, making sure not to wake the others.

She began to think....was it really just a dream? It felt and seemed so real? It couldn't be real....it was only a dream. Rather a nightmare....a nightmare waiting to be remembered...or rather forgotton.

The figure didn't shift in sleep- it drooped like something dead. The soft, brilliant pink ears were drooped, one flattened against the earth by the delicately carved skull that rested there. Not even the wigging of a female nearby woke the sleeping male, which was a surprise in itself. The slumber simply continued, trapped by some dream.

But it wasn't long before he roused, the dream becoming boring and leaving him susceptible to disturbances. Indeed, something had startled him right out of his sweet dreams. But what? Flaired peered blearily, not quite willing to get up and move. So far, he wasn't able to spot anything. That was perfectly fine with him. He'd adore going back to sleep to dream about the army of babes at his command. Oh, but wouldn't that be sleep. What for the ability to choose one's dreams were his, he'd do so. Unfortunately, no such talent resided in him. So he'd dream whatever dream came to mind first, regardless of his wishes.

Flaired frowned, shuffling his stiff wings irritably. It'd be hard to go back to sleep, hard to surrender again. Dawn must be hours away, and he wasn't sure if he'd make it out of the den without waking someone. It wasn't that he was particularly noisy, just clumsy. So absorbed in looking perfect every moment, he often missed the bodies of his pack mates lounging in his path. And well, there went the idea of sneaking out unnoticed. So he was resigned to his spot on the cold, hard ground- doomed to be bored until the sun rose. Lucky him.

He parted slender jowls to fiddle with his cap, abandoned a foot away when he’d collapsed hours earlier for bed time. Tthe half-flattened pink mohawk tickled his cheek, unbound without the hat. Flair tossed his head, golden lookers straining in the dark of the den. So far, no one was up. Still. Why wouldn’t someone wake up and provide him entertainment. Depending on who it was, he’d make it worth their while. At the thought, chocolate kissers tipped up into a smirk.

A startled sort of gasping veered his thoughts, and he wheeled his head around, looking for the source. Had he not already been awake, he wouldn’t have heard the sound. As it was, it was barely audible already. He squinted, trying to make out the figure that stood slowly. And then he realized who it was. Judging by her location, he should have known sooner. She always slept there, the Lady Alpha. Why he hadn’t thought of her first was beyond him. He flipped the cap still clenched in his teeth atop his head and silently weaved through the sleeping wolves to meet her.

“Bad dreams, Lady Alpha?” His voice was soft and midly concerned, but as usual, the way he said ‘Lady Alpha’ sounded more amused the respectful.

Naomi was in a train of thought, her mind racing with the images of her dream...or rather Nightmare. This was not the first time she had been haunted by the memory...it had happened the night before, with the same exact ending with her mother's death. She couldn't help but wonder: Was it true? She pondered, pacing back and forth, her golden eyes wandering over the silent glade. It was a beautiful night. Long grass flowed to the rythem of the wind that blew gently over the oasis.

The Alphesses's thoughts were shattered by the soft, soothing voice of non other than Flaired. The she-wolf spun around, alarmed. She had been too focused on her dream to have noticed that he had awaken. His words slowly sunk into her brain so she finally replied, her voice strong with authority, yet calm and collected, as one with such power should be, even if one did not feel like it.

"Flaired! Please accept my apologies. I did not know I had woke you." she said, avoiding his question, and looking him straight in the eye. She would not tell her fellow pack mates about her visions. It was just unnesasary, and pointless. Not to mention, some might consider her to have gone mad.

Flaired gave the Alphess a careful once over, noting her spaced expression. That look was washed away however, when his voice caused her to jump. He too jerked very slightly, for he hadn't meant to startle her, and in doing so, her jump had startled him. His mouth tipped in self mocking, feeling foolish. The slender form too a small step back, his skull tipping sideways curiously. “Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you.”

Non-existent brows drew together, wondering just what had made Noami so upset. Having never had a nightmare, he had no clue just how frightening they could be. Nerve-wracking. His dreams were always fun, eccentric, if you will. Filled with things that Flaired would like to happen. But that often got old, and he wondered just what it would be like to have one. A nightmare. Why didn’t he? Maybe it was because he was so jaded. Nothing mattered anymore. Life and Death were meaningless. Sins and good works were nothing. One of the only things he truly feared was the Draculan Council, but even they weren’t daunting enough to haunt his dreams.

So he only looked sympathetic, unable to really understand what was wrong. “Don’t worry about it,” Flaired started, biting back the pet names he usually tagged at the ends of his words. He’d just awoken, and it was hard to remember to whom he was speaking. “I was up already, something else woke me.” He lowered onto his haunches, yawning widely. “You alright?”
